Tata Motors has launched the Prima H.55S CNG, a 55-tonne tractor-trailer aimed at long-haul fleet operators. The truck uses a 7.7-litre CNG engine producing 273 HP and 1,100 Nm of torque.
Tata claims a 25% reduction in fuel cost over diesel equivalents on inter-state corridors where CNG is widely available. The Prima H.55S CNG also gets Tata's iCNG dual-tank setup with a combined 360-litre capacity, good for ~900 km range.
Bookings are open with deliveries starting next quarter. Tata is targeting 2,000 unit sales in the first year.
