Yamaha R15 V5 Spotted Testing in Chennai — Launch Imminent
Yamaha's quintessential entry-level sportbike, the R15, was recently spotted testing in heavy traffic near the company's Chennai R&D facility. The test mule wore light camouflage but revealed clear styling and chassis tweaks.
What's new
The most notable change is a new front fascia with a centrally-mounted LED projector — similar to the R7 and R125 — and what appears to be a redesigned aluminium swingarm.
Yamaha is expected to retain the 155cc liquid-cooled VVA engine, but a small bump in power and slightly better fuel economy is anticipated thanks to revised ECU mapping.
We expect the official launch to happen in early Q2 next year, with pricing close to ₹1.95 lakh ex-showroom.
